's first and only 'downstriker'. After 20 years, you can at last see what you are typing! Sadly, it is too late: the competitors have already nabbed the market.
Remington is also in the same boat. It launches its first 'visible machine' (the
Remington 10
) at the same time as the Smith Premier 10 and wins back part of its market share from
Underwood
.   I found one reference to this model calling it 1910 Smith Premier 10 #SP60906 whereas my #SP50767  should be same or earlier year. Some of the keys work smoothly but are dirty and only type in red. The key to switch color does not seem to work. The platen is split but turns easliy. The carriage advances but gets stuck before the end of a line of type. Outer keys stick.  So it's dirty, needs new ribbon and platen and it's old.
